Coffee Supplies Direct is seeking to reduce the environmental impact of its activities and promote sustainability by recycling the natural resources upon which it depends whilst providing quality products and services that meet the needs of today’s ethical consumers.
One of our main suppliers - Kraft Foods have been working in the area of coffee sustainability for more than ten years, having a series of country based projects as well as being a contributor to the Common Code of the Coffee Community project, a global initiative which seeks to define sustainability in the coffee sector. Since 2003 a partnership with the Rainforest Alliance, a leading international non profit conservation organization has really helped advance the availability of Rainforest Alliance Certified™ coffee into the mainstream. Rainforest Alliance Certified™ coffee beans are now blended at low levels into an increasing number of its Kenco Soluble products whilst also offering a comprehensive range of Kenco Sustainable Development products, all of which are made with 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified beans.
Coffee Supplies Direct is currently working on projects to recycle by-products and have recently started to recycle packaging when sending out our customers orders. The Kenco Coffee Company who supplies a large proportion of Coffee Supplies Direct equipment also operates a machine refurbishment scheme to ensure recycling of machine parts where possible. Any unusable parts are disposed in an environmentally considerate and auditable way.
